ICT DIRECTOR: The Girls Day School Trust (GDST), London, UK

6/2008 to Current

ICT Director for a large Educational Charity - ICT Strategy and Managed Services delivery for 29 Schools and a Trust Office

 

• Appointed as Interim Director and Executive Board member to rapidly change and re-align ICT to the Trust’s Educational remit (6 month assignment).

• Requested to remain in role indefinitely having developed and implemented a new ICT strategy, reduced spend by 30% and improved service delivery to new KPI and SLA targets.

• Renegotiated a 5-year £10m Managed Services contract with Cable and Wireless.

• Dramatically improved ability for circa 5,000 teaching staff across 29 schools, with differing cultures, demographics and ICT capability, to deliver curriculum to circa 20,000 pupils.

• Established a class-leading “e-Confidence” program for all Schools in conjunction with BECTA.

• Implemented effective Stakeholder, Process, Fiscal, SLA and People management with direct team of 20, remote matrix team of 60. Budget responsibility to £ 10.5m.

• Re-aligned and modernised Estate-wideTrust business systems incorporating effective Business Continuity and DR controls.

• Specific assistance (30% of role) to CEO in general cross-Trust change management and process refinement.

 

MIS DIRECTOR: Vail Williams LLP, Reading, UK

9/2006 to 5/2008

• Led an enterprise-wide business process review to re-align infrastructure with business requirements.

• Appointed as MIS Board Director to deliver mission-critical services to 150+ core users across 10 sites.

• Focused on management control of business systems, infrastructure, strategies and support services.

• Definition and deployment of an IS strategy, aligning IS and infrastructure roll-out with business needs.

• Developed business cases and business benefit analysis for the adoption of emerging IT technologies.

• Appointed as Programme Director for the Digital Development Partnership with Citrix Systems Inc.

• Focused on systems design, telematics, technical research and development of tracking technology.

• Responsible for leading the design, test and deployment of an innovative children’s content network for BT.
