CIO/MIS Director - Major IS Strategy review/Infrastructure deployment - Property Management partnership
     
  Duration : 9 months
  Location : Reading, Berkshire, UK
     
  Responsibilities : Acting CIO and MIS Director. Reporting to CEO and member of Executive Board. Management of all internal IS resources and external service providers. Development and proposal of long-term IS Strategy and subsequent Infrastructure deployment.
     
  Achievements : Conducted detailed functional, systems and technology review across 10 office locations. Full Risk analysis. Proposed a major step-jump in infrastructure to meet medium and long-term business objectives and provide an extensible IS platform. Budget to circa £ 750k annual - gained fiscal and timeline approval. Established new implementation team using in-sourced resources and out-sourced providers. Significant and sustainable reduction in Total-Cost-of-Ownership proved. Met and exceeded user mobility and secure asset access requirements.
     
     
Programme Director - World Bank and the Digital Development Partnership - Citrix Systems Inc
     
  Duration : 12 months
  Location : UK; Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA; Accra, Ghana; 10 regional 'eCentres' – Ghana
     
  Responsibilities : Acting Programme Director. Reporting to SVP Corporate Relations, Citrix Systems Inc, Florida, USA. Managed a rural information and communication technology project in cooperation with the Indian-Ghanaian Kofi Annan ICT Centre of Excellence in Accra, Ghana. The goal of this project was to bring sustainable ICT access to 10 cities in Ghana in partnership with Sister Cities International Network for Sustainable Development, so enabling efficient e-trade with worldwide customers.
     
  Achievements : Conducted detailed project requirements analysis. Technology research, assessment and programme management. Budget to $5m, also utilising further sustainable development budgets from Hewlett Packard, Citrix Systems, the World Bank, Nera and the Kofi Annan ICT Centre of Excellence. Operational business centres established in 10 rural community locations across Ghana to provide full IT business support platforms for farmers and local business entities. Concurrently led 5 project teams across 3 continents.
     
     
Programme Director - KLM Equipment Services - Tracking technology deployment
     
  Duration : 9 months
  Location : Sussex, UK;  Schiphol, Holland
     
  Responsibilities : Acting Programme Director and Project Manager. Reporting to CEO, Pinnacle Consulting Ltd and MD, KES. Infrastructure re-appraisal, recommendations, project design and management of roll-out delivery to enable telematic tracking of all Ground support vehicles at Schipol airport, Holland. Led two project teams (Customer and Supplier).
     
  Achievements : Entered as technology platform trouble-shooter. Re-evaluated available tracking platforms and data collection strategies. Managed trial of a new bespoke platform to user acceptance. Managed build of 3000 units and timeline for deployment into ground vehicles. Managed board-level Customer relationship. Budget to Euro 10m. Proved significant increase in cost effectiveness of ground services through pooling of vehicle services from different operators. Success of project resulted in significant interest from Air France, BAA, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa.
     
     
Technology Director – BT Wholesale - Private Children’s Network
     
  Duration : 9 months
  Location : Crawley, Sussex, UK
     
  Responsibilities : Programme Management for design and test deployment of an innovative Children’s content network for a British Telco. Reporting to Director, Network Development and VP, Wholesale division.
     
  Achievements : Specified Content management and staging systems. Managed authoring and production of internal proposal documents, risk analyses and development and deployment budgets (in excess of £7.5m). Negotiated hosting and outsourced supply of access security systems, document management systems and other required services provision to enable a full trial to 2000 homes in the United Kingdom. Achieved user acceptance and formal recommendation to proceed to client.
     
     
Technology Strategy Consultant – Citrix Systems Research and Development
     
  Duration : 6 months
  Location : Buckinghamshire, UK
     
  Responsibilities : Research technology and market opportunity for a Small/Medium business software product for Citrix Systems Inc Research and Development Limited. Recommend appropriate positioning alongside current Enterprise product offerings. Provide guidance on enhancements to usability and installation to enable use by any SMB customer. Reporting to the SVP, Worldwide Product Development, Citrix Systems Inc. Matrix-managed teams of Software engineers, Product Marketing staff and Channel members.
     
  Achievements : Established significant market opportunity for entry into SMB space by a major Enterprise software vendor. Profiled channel requirements. With client engineers, evaluated current product design and recommended innovative and significant changes to installation and usability, so ensuring much enhanced ease-of-use. Also proposed and had adopted a “take it all with you” end-point architecture using smart USB card devices.
     
     
Technology Strategist – Media Synthesis Limited – Media Delivery
     
  Duration : 6 months
  Location : Oxfordshire, UK
     
  Responsibilities : Technology platform adviser to a Media delivery software company, responsible for ensuring existing and emerging delivery technologies were fully considered during the design of the media delivery platform. Reported to the SVP, Delivery Technologies.
     
  Achievements : Ensured all relevant emerging technologies were fully assessed and evaluated during the design of the platform. Managed confidential technology trial programs with key vendors worldwide. Produced and presented Risk analyses and potential acquisition/partnering scenarios to enable well-informed technology absorption to proceed at lowest cost and risk.
     
     
CIO - ‘Best Practice’ advisor - Financial Services CIO
     
  Duration : 24 months (part-time)
  Location : London, UK
     
  Responsibilities : Act as “devil’s advocate” CIO responsible for ensuring effective and risk mitigated knowledge management strategies within a Financial Services organisation.
     
  Achievements : Monitored and advised on best practices associated with risk assessment, systems, process and budgetary impact on behalf of a CIO for a major British financial institution, to ensure adoption of proper due diligence throughout cycles of systems and software acquisition.
     
     
Senior Director - Citrix Systems Inc – Software Product Strategy
     
  Duration : 12 months (permanent role)

  Responsibilities : Manage and develop medium to long-term technology strategy to research, evaluate and propose software development and acquisition targets for Citrix Systems Inc. managed team of 15 product development and software engineering resources.
     
  Achievements : Identified and structured major development and acquisition opportunities to enable Citrix Systems to broaden its Enterprise Access suite – WAN optimisation, Single sign-on, Collaboration, and Conferencing.
     
     
Senior Director - Citrix Systems Inc – EMEA Services
     
  Duration : 18 months (permanent role)
  Location : UK
     
  Responsibilities : Manage establishment of an EMEA-wide services organisation encompassing Consulting, Support, Education and Training and Software renewal functions. Establish and manage EMEA-wide teams for each functional Services department.
     
  Achievements : Delivered an operating, profitable EMEA services business to a major US Software vendor within 1 year of inception, adding $6m to overall regional revenue.
     
     
Technology and Operations Director - Systems ReMarketing plc
     
  Duration : 24 months
  Location : UK
     
  Responsibilities : Establish and manage an obsolescent product sales/marketing plc specialising in profitable disposal of excess/refurbished/remanufactured IS technology.
     
  Achievements : Initially for Apple Computer, created a highly profitable revenue stream for the company and Apple returning circa £2.4m of annual revenue. Trade sale.
     
     
Managing Director – Antigravity Limited
     
  Duration : 18 months

  Responsibilities : Formed a software development start-up to build applications for the first PDA capable of handwriting recognition (Apple Newton).
     
  Achievements : Developed and sold several bespoke applications to provide delivery signature recognition for freight-forwarders.

  Responsibilities : Formed and managed operations for an ISP and hosting company, Rapidhost Ltd.

  Responsibilities : Advised Ernst & Young on emerging Apple Computer Technologies.
     
  Achievements : Assisted E&Y consulting services’ ability to advise their clients on Apple’s Human Interface capabilities with respect to front-ending legacy applications.
     
     
Technology Consultant – London Science Museum
     
  Duration : 6 months
  Location : UK
     
  Responsibilities : Prototyped a user information system for the London Science Museum.
     
  Achievements : Enabled the museum to publish its exhibits in real-time internally (and subsequently) via the Internet and so increase ticket sales by 40% over 1 year.
